The first automation most founders should build

When founders ask me where to start with automation, they expect me to say something about AI pipelines or complex workflows.

I tell them to automate their status updates.

Every founder I have worked with spends 30 to 60 minutes a day compiling information that already exists in their tools. Pulling numbers from one dashboard, copying them into a message, sending it to three different people.

That is your first automation. An n8n workflow that pulls data from your project management tool, formats it, and sends it to Slack or email at 9am every morning.

Why this one first:

It runs every day, so the time savings compound fast. It is simple enough to build in an afternoon. And it shows your team what automation looks like in practice, which makes the next one easier to get buy-in for.

Start boring. Scale from there.
